Over 300,000 people are expected to benefit from 1,053 metric tonnes of food donated by the county government.
Speaking when he flagged off a convoy of trucks laden with food relief, Governor Ali Roba appealed to the national government to assist the 24 counties currently facing severe food shortage.
"We are asking for intervention from the national government and the international community provide relief food to starving residents in these counties and save lives," Mr Roba said.
This is the third season in a row the county government has come to the rescue of over 380,000 residents affected by drought.
Sub-counties affected include Mandera East, Mandera North, Mandera South, Mandera West, Banisa and Lafey.
