Bishop T.D. Jakes suffers health scare during sermon

Bishop T.D. Jakes suffers health scare during sermon.

Bishop T.D. Jakes, the renowned pastor of The Potter's House Church in Dallas, experienced a health scare during a sermon on Sunday.

The incident occurred as he was concluding an hour-long message on stage. Witnesses say Jakes appeared to shudder, prompting those nearby to rush to his aid.

A statement released by The Potter's House on Facebook confirmed that Jakes received immediate medical attention and is now stable.

"Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident during today’s service and received immediate medical care following his powerful hour-long message. He is stable and under the care of medical professionals. We are grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community,” the statement read.

The church has not revealed further details about the cause of the incident or if Jakes required hospitalisation.

Later that evening, his daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts and son-in-law Toure Roberts provided an update on Instagram.

Toure expressed gratitude for the pastor’s recovery, saying, "Today could have been tragic, but it wasn’t. By God’s mercy, Bishop is doing well, recovering, and under medical care." Sarah added, “It’s a reminder to cherish your loved ones and be thankful for the people God has placed in your life.”

The Potter's House congregation and the wider faith community have shared thousands of messages on social media, voicing their prayers and support for Jakes' recovery.

The Potter's House, founded by Bishop Jakes in 1996, is a large non-denominational church with over 30,000 members. It is one of the largest and most influential churches in the United States.
