A building caretaker was arraigned for allegedly biting off a shoe seller’s ear and spitting it on the ground following a dispute over a sandal.
David Kilonzo, according to court particulars, attacked David Otieno causing him grievous harm on October 1 at Saika, Njiru Sub-County.
That day, Kilonzo went to Otieno’s shoe shop looking for open shoes and found a pair. He reportedly took one of the sandals leaving one at the shop, promising he would pay later. He said he took one of the sandals to stop Otieno from selling the pair.
Otieno later secured a buyer online of the same pair and decided to look for Kilonzo to give him the other sandal. But Kilonzo declined to hand over the sandal insisting it belonged to him but did not have money to pay for it yet.
Otieno maintained that Kilonzo either pays for the pair or hands over the sandal. This turned into an argument, which turned physical. In the ensuing combat, Kilonzo allegedly bit the shoe seller’s right ear and spit on the floor.
Otieno was taken to hospital and later reported the case to the police who arrested Kilonzo.
He denied the charges was released on a bond of Sh100,000 pending hearing in March of next year.
