Zari Hassan: I have nothing to do with Diamond, Zuchu split

Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan recently spoke out to dispel rumours linking her to the breakup between her ex-partner, Diamond Platnumz, and his singer girlfriend, Zuchu.

In an interview with Tanzanian blogger Millard Ayo, Hassan, who is based in South Africa, said the couple (Diamond and Zuchu) had been facing issues long before the recent controversy.

According to Hassan, Zuchu has had a pattern of leaving Diamond and returning to him, suggesting instability in their relationship well before the current situation.

"I don't want Diamond back, and I'm not returning to him. Zuchu and Diamond have had problems even before. Zuchu claiming that she ended the relationship because of my video with Diamond is false. She leaves Diamond every week and comes back. She denies being in a relationship. She lacks trust, and even her mother has often stated she doesn't approve of her relationship with Diamond. They have their issues, and I am not the cause. They have made me an easy target when things go wrong. We have moved on, and I'm married while he has been with other women before Zuchu," Hassan stated.

This clarification comes after a video surfaced last week showing Hassan and Diamond holding hands, sparking speculation that this might have led to Zuchu announcing the end of her relationship with Diamond.

Hassan also highlighted the circumstances behind the video that fueled the rumours. She explained that during a recording session in Johannesburg, Diamond expressed concerns about the performance of his music and asked for her help in promoting his song.

Hassan said that she and Diamond have since evolved their relationship into a friendship and urged people to stop blaming her for their relationship issues.

"Tanzanians are making this a big deal saying I don't want to move on. Diamond is the father of my children, and we have a good relationship. There was a time we were lovers who parted ways badly, but we've moved past that," she explained.

Diamond publicly sought forgiveness from Zuchu during her performance on February 24, just a day after she announced their breakup.

In a gesture of reconciliation, Diamond knelt on stage, confessing his love and asking for forgiveness.

He said that he travelled from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar to surprise Zuchu at her concert, acting on advice from his friend, Haji Manara, to put aside his ego and attempt to mend their relationship.
