EAC seeks Sh1 billion to fund regional plan

East Africa Community Secretary General Dr Liberat Mfumukeko

The East African Community is seeking close to Sh1 billion to finance its five-year strategic plan.

Secretary-General Liberat Mfumukeko appealed to the African Development Bank to support the bloc’s $985 million (Sh98.9 billion) development plan, with most of the funding planned to go to financing projects in the agriculture sector.

Speaking at a recent meeting in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Mr Mfumukeko lauded the bank’s support to the region’s infrastructure agenda.
