Transport ministry proposes road maintenance levy increase, seeks public input

The Ministry of Roads and Transport has announced proposed amendments to the Road Maintenance Levy, seeking to increase the levy on petrol and diesel.

In a notice dated June 23, the ministry cited Article 10 of the Constitution which mandates inclusive decision-making processes.

"We are urging the public and stakeholders to participate in scheduled forums on Monday, July 8 2024," the ministry said.

The sessions, scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will be held across various regions including Nairobi, Nyeri, Eldoret, Nakuru, Isiolo, Machakos, Kisumu, Garissa and Mombasa.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit written comments and memoranda either by email to [email protected] or by hand-delivery to the Kenya Roads Board headquarters in Nairobi and regional offices.

Submissions should be received no later than Friday, 5th July 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
