Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced the resumption of its prepaid services following a successful upgrade of the vending system used to issue power tokens.

The process which began at 10 on Sunday night, took twenty-four hours to its completion leading to the restoration of the service at 10 on Monday night.

“Our prepaid customers can now buy their electricity tokens via all payment channels including M-pesa paybill number 888880, Airtel Money and banking channels,” reads part of a statement from KPLC.

The company had, on Friday May 31, advised customers to make early and sufficient token purchases to avoid unplanned power interruptions.

"We appreciate our customers for their patience and understanding  during this process," the company added.
