Ruto shakes up State corporations with fresh appointments, revocations

President William Ruto has gazetted a series of appointments and revocations of chairpersons and board members of various State corporations.

The Gazette notice issued on Friday, December 15, stated that he was exercising his powers conferred by Section 7 (3) of the State Corporations Act.

Among the new appointees are Aggrey Lucas Kidiavai, who will serve as the chairperson of the State Corporations Appeal Tribunal for a period of five years, effective immediately, and Shallow Yahya, who will lead the National Drought Management Authority until July 2025.

He also appointed Michael Kamau Kamiru as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority for three years, effective immediately.

The president revoked the appointments of Raphael Nzomo, who was the chairperson of the National Drought Management Authority, and Michael Kamau Kamiru, who was a board member of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

He also revoked the appointments of Wilkister Simiyu, Fancy Too (Dr.), Darshan Shah, and Samir Ibrahim, who were also board members of KRA.

Ruto appointed Hadi Sheikh Abdullahi, Richard Boro Ndun'gu, Lydia Cherono Rono, and Amolo Ngweno as the new board members of the Kenya Revenue Authority, from December 15, 2023, to January 12, 2026.
