Police in Shinyalu, Kakamega County are holding a 26-year-old man for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old sister.
The victim who is a Class Five pupil at Shihimba Primary School, said she was threatened by the brother who caught up with her while she was leaving from a shop.
She claimed that the brother hit her with a panga before directing her into his house and defiled her for close to 10 minutes, leaving her in a helpless state.
She narrated the ordeal she went through saying the brother hit her severally with a panga anytime she screamed for help.
“He first hit me with a panga and carried me into his house before defiling me. Whenever I tried to open my mouth, he hit me and even managed to cut my hand before my mother and elder brother came to my rescue,” she said.
Their father Paulo Shamala has called on police to not release the suspect whom he says has been mentioned in similar acts in their area.
They alleged that the suspect is also a security risk to women and children after threatening to attack anyone who thought of reporting him to the authorities.
Locals have vowed to block his return if police release him back to the village saying he is too risky to live with their families. “We will burn his house to make sure he doesn’t return here. Our children and mothers cannot move freely because of this man,” a local said.
