Ngetich triumphs at Kericho club

The "You Deserve a Crown" golf tournament's ninth leg took place at the scenic and evergreen Kericho Club over the weekend.

The series has previously been hosted at Nyali Golf and Country Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, Sigona Golf Club, Kiambu Golf Club, and Limuru Country Club. Other venues included the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Nyanza Sports Club, and Nakuru Golf Club.

The event was attended by 89 golfers, and club Captain Ignatius Ngetich returned a score of 40 stableford points, winning the overall title in the nett category.

Ngetich, who played off handicap 9, expressed satisfaction with his performance, terming it sweet revenge following a previous match play game defeat.

Joel Chebon, with a score of 39 stableford points, took the Nett winner second prize, while Anthony Cheruiyot settled for the overall nett winner third prize with 39 stableford points.

Elizabeth Ngeny clinched the Lady winner prize with 38 stableford points, playing off handicap 24. In Division One, Kibet Too came out on top with 36 stableford points, followed by Lydia Chebichii with 35 stableford points.

Mose Sammy playing off handicap 5 emerged as the Gross prize winner with 82 Gross points.

Division Two saw Elijah Soy and Harry Rotich sharing the top spot with 38 and 37 stableford points, respectively.

Gilbert Bett led the third division with 42 stableford points off handicap 38, while Deborah Chepkemoi secured second place with 40 stableford points.

In the Senior category, Kipsuge Soi scored 36 stableford points, and Cecil Too won the Junior prize with 32 stableford points.

Judy Chebon and Edgar Maiyo secured the First nine prizes with 21 stableford points each.

The Longest Drive Men prize went to David Biegon for his tee shot on the par-five 17th hole, while Florence Wafula from Nakuru Golf Club claimed the Longest Drive Ladies prize.

Joyce Rotich won the Nearest to Pin prize on the par-three 14th hole, and Melchizedek Munyongi was the Best-effort winner.

This tournament was presented by Crown Paints Limited Plc, the country's oldest paint maker.
