This refreshing cocktail is for all the Halloween lovers. Despite Kenyans not being big fans of Halloween on October 31, it doesn’t hurt to try this Halloween-inspired cocktail.
INGREDIENTS.
Frozen mixed berries (50g).
Caster sugar (20g) - this is optional
Lemon juice (100ml)
Raspberry liquor (100ml)
Blue Curacao (50ml)
Vodka(200ml)
Ice cubes.
Edible glitter -this is used to garnish and is optional
Cocktail cherries - this is used when serving and is also optional.
METHODOLOGY:
STEP 1
We start by making the fruit base. Carefully pour water (60ml) into a saucepan and add caster sugar. The castor sugar is optional so if you don’t use it, you are required to use (75ml) of water. Then throw in the berries into the saucepan. Cook the mixture for 3-4 minutes over medium heat until the berries have defrosted and are about to soften. Cook until the liquid in the saucepan bubbles. When good and ready, turn off the heat and leave it to cool for a while. Carefully strain and pour into a jug.
STEP 2
Since the fruit base is ready, pour approximately 80ml into a cocktail shaker that is filled with the following ingredients; vodka, raspberry liquor, blue curaçao, lemon juice and a huge handful of ice. Carefully shake the combination until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels frosty.
STEP 3
After shaking well, strain the mixture into martini glasses or whatever glass you would like to use. You can sprinkle the edible glitter into the cocktail and stir carefully. If you like, you can garnish the cocktail with a cocktail cherry on the top of the glass. Using both the edible glitter and the cocktail cherries are optional.
