Kenya’s luxury safari operators in Sh626m partnership

MOMBASA: One of Kenya’s leading luxury safari operators, Governors Camp, has entered into a partnership to create a pan-African safari group.

Botswana’s Wilderness Safaris will inject an initial capital of $6.2 million (Sh626 million) into Governors Camp in an investment programme.

Part of the proceeds will be used to refurbish Governors’ facilities in Kenya and Rwanda.

“This partnership brings two of the best-known brands in safari tourism to East Africa. It gives Wilderness Safaris a footprint in a key area of the continent where it is not yet represented,” said Wilderness Safaris’ CEO Keith Vincent.

The partnership has received the backing of Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala.

Wilderness Safaris runs 65 safari camps, while Governors Camp has seven products. The two firms have 75 years of combined experience in luxury tented safari operations. They will work together in providing access to some of Africa’s most diverse ecosystems.
