Sakaja Promises to rename South C road after the late E-Sir

As Kenyans marked Jamhuri Day, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has come to the defence of the array of artistes who performed at the event.

The artistes led by former MP Charles Njagua aka Jaguar, Mejja, Juacali, Daddy Owen, Esther Wahome, Mr Lenny, DNA, Hypeman Guda among others, had come under heavy criticism from a section of Kenyans and artistes who felt that the entertainers had “betrayed” them.

Governor Sakaja has also promised to rename one of the roads in Nairobi's South C estate in honour of the late singer E-Sir.

“ Nairobi is now able to attract major artistes both locally and internationally. We shall be honouring our artistes by renaming some of our roads after them. For example, one road in South C will be renamed after the great hero, E-Sir whose brother performed here today,” he stated.

The late singer whose catchy songs ruled the roost in the 20s, saw his songs perform by his brother Habib during the Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens.

Sakaja also pointed out that among the notable steps taken to boost the creative industry has been allowing content creators to work freely in the CBD, without harassment as previously witnessed.
