A new water purifier to be fitted on taps has been launched into the Kenyan market to help combat rampant water-borne infections.
Ideal in situations of mass consumption, the gadget known as Zero-B-Suraksha can purify 7,500 litres of water at a flow rate of two litres per minute and does not require electricity to operate.
Speaking at the launch, Mumias Sugar Company Managing Director Mr Evans Kidero thanked the Ion Exchange Company of India for partnering with Surgipharm Limited, a pharmaceutical company, to bring the gadget to Kenyans at a time when water borne infections are on the rise.
Mr Kidero said the provision of clean, drinking water was not an option, but a must if governments were to secure then health of their citizens.
He was confident that with the advent of the new Constitution, water for all will be given the priority hit deserves by county governments to end the thirst in rural areas where the majority of the people live.
Surgipharmm Limited Managing Director Dr Vijai Maini said it was regrettable most Kenyans have no access to clean, drinking water, 48 years after independence.
