A team staff from Mogadishu University is currently in Poland seeking collaboration with EU universities.

Led by the institution’s Quality Assurance director Abdiwali Sheikh Mohamed, the university said the delegation is in Poznan, Poland, for engagements with EU Universities including, Uniwersytet WSB Merito.

During the visit, the team is expected to participate in several working meetings and workshops by WSB University which are key to fostering collaboration with EU Universities.

The team will also join partner universities involved in the Inclusive and Innovative Digital Education for Migrant Community project in Kenya and Somalia.

The participating partner universities of this endeavor are from Somalia, Kenya, Turkey, and Poland.

Among areas of interest include student exchange programs and joint projects and activities, as well as joint scientific studies and facilitating academic staff mobility.

The delegation is also seeking collaborations that will contribute to academic development through joint academic commissions.

Over the years, there have been calls for the Somalia education system to formulate regulations to guide on awards of university degrees.

Education experts blamed the laxity of many universities in improving systems to be able to train more doctors, engineers and other personnel who are crucial to the country’s reconstruction after decades of civil war.

Instead of aligning educational curricula with reconstruction needs, the experts said these institutions are fixated on churning out more Sharia, law and business graduates leaving the future of many graduates uncertain.
