Residents of Nakuru town thronged a church to witness faithful claiming two of their pastors, who died on Monday, would rise from the dead.
Believers of Kingdom Seekers Fellowship Church in Nakuru held daylong prayers for the resurrection of the two despite a heavy downpour.
Patrick Wanjohi, who was the Nakuru KSF Assistant Pastor and Francis Kamau Ndekei, the Nyahururu lead pastor, died after their car hit a culvert near St Barnabas on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
Ndekei was behind the wheel. Ndekei was pronounced dead on arrival at Valley Hospital in Nakuru while Wanjohi died the same day while receiving treatment there.
Thousands thronged the church, others climbing trees to witness if the bodies in coffins would resurrect.
Refusal to bury
Church members refused to bury the two saying their work on earth was not yet done and that they were not dead but sleeping and it was their work to awaken them.
The church’s overseer Pastor John William Kimani, who led the prayers, said the two were the pillars of the two churches and that burying them would leave the church weak.
"We shall not bury them. We need them back to keep the church strong. Their work here on earth is not yet done," Kimani said.
The faithful started fasting and praying on Thursday saying on the third day, which was on Saturday, the two would rise up from the dead.
