Vice Chancellor told to serve judge in person

A contempt case against an Industrial Court judge has been filed, for ordering Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor’s arrest.

High Court Judge Roselyne Wendoh certified the case urgent and ordered Prof Olive Mugenda to serve Justice Isaac Mukunya in person.

She also ordered the case be mentioned on October 19, for direction.

The VC says the judge allegedly ignored High Court orders stopping a case before him and sentenced her to two months in jail, for not reinstating two sacked lecturers.

Mugenda wants the High Court to compel the judge to purge the contempt case against her by setting aside the October 1 sentence.

In default, she wants him jailed for six months for disregarding the High Court orders.

The Industrial Court ordered the reinstatement of the two lecturers on September 10.
