By Beatrice Obwocha

Private schools in Naivasha and Molo districts dominated top positions in Rift Valley Province in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results.

The districts produced six candidates in the top 10 category in Rift Valley Province who scored between 445 and 452 marks.

The schools include Gilgil Hills Academy with three candidates, Molo Academy with two and St Peter’s Elite, also in Gilgil, with one.

Out of the six, two of the candidates — Njogu Paul Mbuthia and Nyakundi Faith Bochaberi — were ranked fifth and sixth nationally.

Mbuthia from Molo Academy topped the list in the province with 452 marks followed by Bochaberi from Gilgil Hills Academy who scored 450 marks.

The other four are Kemei Michelle Jepchumba (Gilgil Hills) with 447, Kamau Levis Njihia (St Peter’s Elite) 447, Kobi H C Momanyi (Molo Academy) 455, and Macharia Joseph Chege (Gilgil Hills) 445.

Gilgil Hills Academy for the second year running produced a student in the top 10 nationally.

Bochaberi’s father, a Mr Nyakundi from Mombasa, could not hide his joy at the news.

Kemei Michelle Jepchumba’s mother ululated with joy, thanking God for the performance which she had expected would be good.
