Central’s top boy dreams of planes, courts

Daniel Ndirangu was watching television when heard his name called as the top boy in Central Province in KCPE.

Ndirangu, 14, was a former pupil at St Francis Nyaribo Academy, in a remote village near Nyeri South and Nyeri North border.

He said he expected to score high marks, but not to match the ones for top performers nationally.

"I worked hard in school and I knew I would perform well, but I was not expecting to pass that much. I feel delighted," he told The Standard, yesterday at their home in Kiganjo.

Ndirangu scored 450 marks of a possible 500, ranking him the best candidate in Central Province, and ninth nationally.

"I want to be a pilot or a lawyer, and I know I will achieve it," he said.

When we traced him to his home at Kiganjo Health Centre staff quarters, Ndirangu was watching television alongside his father, Mr David Ndirangu, a teacher at Chaka Primary School.

His mother, Mrs Rose Karingi, is a nurse at the health facility.
