Why we must confront Raila about his doctrine of failure
Kenyan democracy is borrowed from the Westminster model of a functional Executive checked by a vibrant loyal opposition. In commonwealth parliamentary parlance, the term ‘loyal opposition’ refers to non-governing parties that check government policy, plans, actions, expenditure and excesses and where they necessary constructively oppose and offer viable alternatives while remaining loyal to national aspirations and in the Kenyan context, national values and principles of governance, which include patriotism and national unity.

Campaigns do not give us licence to disparage institutions
The recent decision by the Court of Appeals which ruled against Nasa and in favour of the IEBC on the ballot paper printing deal with Al-Ghurair, overruling a previous High Court position, should have far wider ramifications than this particular judgement.

Is banditry menace in Baringo beyond Government control?
No, the Government has always been at the forefront putting in place security measures to contain banditry along the Kerio valley belt, which stretches to Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counties. Short term measures currently seen in the Valley include the continued strengthening of police presence and an indicator that the banditry menace will soon be under control. Locals now have a chance to defend their interests after being enlisted as police reservists.
