Why Cabinet shuffle is the most successful project, complete with annual reviews

After nearly a year of push and pull, Justin Muturi, the former Attorney General and Public Service Cabinet Secretary, has been sacked, only a day after Prezzo Ruto declared his tenure at Sheria House as “fairly incompetent”. 

I have no idea when the Prezzo discovered that, and why Muturi retained a Cabinet slot even after such an indictment. Turns out incompetence is a noun that’s routinely used to explain what roils Prezzo Ruto’s government, and he has time and again called out his cabinet for being incompetent.

We concur some chaps have been manifestly incompetent—you just need to see how many stutter and stumble through their oath of office—because so many are holders of fake certificates, established drug barons, rapists and thieves.

I wouldn’t put it down to Prezzo Ruto’s incompetence, after all, he is a PhD, even though a former ally, former Meru governor, Kawira Mwangaza, recently declared that the singular “project” that Prezzo Ruto has completed over the last 2.5 years is her ouster.

If that were the case, then I’m inclined to concur with Mwangaza; it took three rounds to finally kick her out of office, after surviving two previous impeachment attempts.

I would discount Mwangaza’s account for the simple reason that it’d be unfair to blame Prezzo Ruto for anything that happens in this country, especially since he absolutely had nothing to with Meru politics.

As a matter of fact, Prezzo Ruto is as jittery about the same powers that ousted Mwangaza could jeopardise his Meru tour.  

It appears many politicians are feeling constrained from touring just about anywhere. Just ask Mumias MP Peter Salasya who was ejected out of Nyayo Stadium by unknown chaps who seemed keen on shaking his head, allegedly to check if it is filled with smoke—because the MP is fond of smoking, and posting online.

Those baying for Salasya’s blood said he had disrespected Baba, so it’s ironical that anyone would send goons to silence the MP, while those who annoy powers that be have abductors dispatched to nab them. 

Looks like those are the choices before us: dealing with goons in broad daylight, or State abductors by night.
