The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has released the 2024 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results.
Schools that presented candidates for the assessment can now access the learner-specific reports on the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal at cba.knec.ac.ke.
The KPSEA, which took place from October 28 to October 30, 2024, involved 1,313,913 Grade 6 learners across 35,573 centres.
The assessment is part of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and aims to evaluate students' core competencies and values at the upper primary level.
KNEC said the results provide critical information about learning gaps and guide interventions to improve primary school education.
“It also gives the classroom teachers relevant information about learning gaps noted at the end of the primary tier,” said KNEC .
The KPSEA marks a milestone for Grade 6 learners as they transition to Grade 7.
The assessment evaluates practical skills and competencies and plays a role in determining learners' readiness for the next stage.
The results will account for 20 per cent of the learner's score, with school-based assessments contributing another 20 per cent.
A final summative evaluation at the end of Grade 9 will make up the remaining 60 per cent. Grade 9 will mark the final phase of Junior School, after which learners will transition to Senior School in 2026, where they will choose career pathways.
Parents can view their child's results by visiting the CBA portal and entering the learner’s index number and name.
