The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has summoned Naivasha MP Jane Kihara to appear before its disciplinary committee on Tuesday, December 24, at 9:00 a.m.

The summons follows allegations of misconduct, including remarks criticising the Party and questioning its inner workings.

In a statement, UDA cited a widely circulated clip in which Kihara allegedly made disparaging comments about the Party.

According to the statement, Kihara was recorded saying, “Mi husema ile kitu ya UDA naweza nunua labda ni tissue paper… yellow toilet paper coz I’ll use it and throw it in the toilet. UDA said pesa mfukoni, but nowadays, hadi ile iko kwa mfuko wanatoa.”

The MP is also accused of claiming that the Kenya Kwanza administration has strayed from its promises, and pushed impeached DP Rigathi Gachagua out for being truthful.

“When we say things are going astray, they call us ‘evil spirits,’ That’s why Riggy G was kicked out for speaking the truth,” she allegedly said.

According to UDA, Kihara’s actions violated the Party’s code of conduct and her oath of office.

“As a member of the party, you are expected to conduct your affairs in a manner that promotes its image and interests and upholds its values and principles. You have failed to do so in this instance.”

The lawmaker, who has been a vocal critic of the William Ruto administration since Gachagua’s impeachment, will be required to respond to the allegations before the committee.

The party has not disclosed the possible consequences if Kihara is found culpable of misconduct.
