A suspected paedophile who filmed himself defiling children and storing the clips on his mobile phone has been arrested in Nakuru.

The suspect aged 42, also filmed children undressing and sold the material online to other suspected sexual predators.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect was being assisted by other minors whom he paid a mere Sh500 to lure victims in Nakuru city estates.

Police said the suspect allegedly confessed to being attracted to young girls and reveled in selling material online at the cost of Sh9,500 per recording.

He was waylaid and cornered in his apartment Monday night.

The suspect’s arrest came after the abduction of a 13-year-old girl with the assistance of two girls, both minors, on Monday who led her to the apartment in Naka estate.

Nakuru County Police Commander Mohammed Wako said the suspect is in custody alongside five girls who are all minors.

“We received a complaint from parents of a minor who had gone missing briefly from home and later confided in them that she had been forcefully taken to a stranger’s house and defiled,” said Wako.

The police revealed that the victim led the police to the house where the suspect was arrested.

“While in custody, two girls who are also minors called the suspect’s phone and said that they had found more girls for him. We laid a trap and arrested them. In total, we have five girls, all minors, three of whom were intended victims,” said Wako.

He said the suspects were arraigned in court and will remain in custody for two weeks to allow police to complete investigations.

“We are yet to establish the exact number of girls he had defiled but they are many based on our preliminary findings. Medical tests done on some of the victims have turned positive and we are confident that we shall have enough evidence against the suspect,” he said.

The Standard managed to speak to the 13-year-old victim, Maria (not her real name) who narrated her harrowing experience in the hands of the suspect and two girls in deserted apartments.

“Two girls from our estate who have been coming to my mother’s workplace found me near our home. They tricked me to escort them to town where they were to buy shoes,” said Maria.

Maria said that along the way, one of the girls was left behind and made a call after which a car pulled over.

“The two girls forced me into the car when I resisted. They told me we were heading to town but took a different route. At an apartment in Naka which had several floors but no other tenants, two men on board the car yanked me out and forced me into one of the houses,” she said.

While at the house, Maria said that one of the suspects forcefully injected her with a substance and offered her juice.

“I started feeling dizzy on the couch while the other girls were in the kitchen. The suspect grabbed me from the couch and took me to his bed. I was already too weak and passed out,” said Maria.

She regained consciousness as the suspects were driving her back home unaware of what had been done to her though she was in pain.

Maria’s mother who was frantically searching for her said that at around 6:30 pm, she saw her being escorted home by the two girls who she would later learn were also victims.

“My daughter was weak and her skin had turned. Their shocking revelation made me take them to Mwariki Police Post. I was advised to take them to hospital where doctors confirmed that they had been defiled,” said the mother.

The parents reported the matter to Nakuru Central Police Station vide OB number 107 of November 4, 2024.

Bishop Isaac Kamau, a resident who accompanied the officers said that the suspect was found in the house and allegedly confessed to sexually assaulting the minors.

“His phone was taken from him and what we found in it is shocking. He had recorded explicit videos of him having intimacy with children,” said Bishop Kamau.

In most of the clips, some seen by these reporters, the victims were unconscious or resisting the act but overpowered by the suspect.

Kamau said the suspect allegedly confessed to selling the clips to third parties, a matter which is under investigation.

The suspect was escorted to Nakuru Central Police Station.

A police source privy to the investigations said that the girl told them that she met other girls and requested for transport to the suspect’s house.

“The girl was told that their ride would be paid on arrival. She and another girl were arrested outside the suspect’s house,” said the officer.
