King Charles III appoints Kenyan Born Veronica Pickering as Nottinghamshire's Lord-Lieutenant

Kenyan-born Professor Veronica Moraa Pickering, DL, has been appointed by King Charles III as His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Nottinghamshire.

In an official statement released by the Prime Minister's Office, 10 Downing Street, this significant role comes after the retirement of Sir John Peace, CVO, on 2nd March 2024.

Veronica Moraa Pickering, a social entrepreneur and former UK Social Worker and Children's Guardian has dedicated her career to supporting vulnerable communities.

Her impactful work as an International Child Protection Consultant for the UN and numerous NGOs across Africa has been commendable, focusing on empowering vulnerable individuals and their families.

Currently serving as the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Veronica is known for her commitment to education and community development. She is also a visiting Professor at the Lincoln International Business School.

Veronica, together with her husband, Nottinghamshire-born artist Roy Pickering, calls Nottinghamshire home. They share a proud parental bond with their two adult children.
