ICT and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany's Minister for Digital and Transport Dr. Volker Wissing.
The MoU is on Digital Policy and Infrastructure during the Kenya-German Digital Dialogue and was signed in Berlin, Germany.
"Together with Dr. Volker Wissing, Germany's Minister for Digital and Transport, we signed an MOU establishing a pioneering digital partnership, making Kenya the first African country to initiate such a dialogue with Germany," Owalo said.
According to Owalo, the two countries have a shared objective to enhance digital transformation and collaboration, fostering progress based on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared goals.
The MoU covers a wide spectrum of digital domains, spanning the digital economy, internet governance, digital policy, national digital strategies, digital skills, cybersecurity, AI governance, the future of work, and enhancing connectivity in digital public services and infrastructure.
Present at the signing ceremony were Mr. Stefan Schnorr (State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport), Mr. Tom Amolo (Kenyan Ambassador to Germany), and Mr. Bernd Lakemeier (Programme Director at GIZ Kenya).
