Kenya will be among the first Commonwealth countries to receive King Charles III later this year.
According to British media outlets, the trip will be the first official visit made by the King, aimed at prioritizing Commonwealth during his reign.
It is however unclear when King Charles III will arrive in Kenya, though the trip is set to begin in autumn.
The 74-year-old monarch wanted to celebrate the first anniversary of his mother's death in a private, quiet way and will be joined by his wife, Queen Camila.
The visit will also have an emotional impact on the King as Kenya is where his mother, Queen Elizabeth, learned of the death of her father King George IV, making her the heir to the throne.
Queen Elizabeth, accompanied by Prince Phillip had visited Kenya less than a week before the news, in a bid to start a world tour on behalf of the sick king.
At age 25, in 1952, Elizabeth became the new monarch and served the throne for 70 years until her death in September 2022.
It was also said that the King had planned to visit France but the visit was cancelled in March due to security concerns.
However, King Charles III is due to visit France for a rescheduled event next month.
