William Oduol to know his fate before Senate

Oduol is facing charges of allegedly violating the Constitution, abuse of office, gross misconduct and spreading misleading information.

If acquitted, the matter will rest at that. If the committee recommends Oduol's impeachment, the decision will debated in plenary.

Kenya Kwanza senators have expressed their desire to save the impeached deputy governor which could turn the Siaya county woes into a political battle between President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

Oduol fits into Ruto's plan to slice a share of Raila's Siaya home turf, he enjoys the support of three lawmakers Ugenya's David Ochieng', Gem's Elisha Odhiambo and Bondo's Gideon Ochanda.

During the impeachment trial, it was difficult to discern the senators' partisanship, as they asked the prosecution and the defence tough questions.

The committee's chair, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator William Kisang', said they would be objective in handling the matter.
