I will fight insecurity and complete stalled projects, Ruto vows

President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that Cabinet roles were clear and designed to ensure delivery of government agenda.

Speaking during an interdenominational prayer service at Nanyuki Stadium, President Ruto said he has spelt out clear roles for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

"Musalia will handle the relationship between the Executive and the Legislature while my deputy Gachagua would work with the devolved governments, we have managed to come up with a clear plan for the development of Kenya," he said.

During the church service, Laikipia leaders told residents that they had agreed with the president to address stalled development projects that required their completion.

Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri said local leaders and the president had a breakfast meeting where they discussed major concerns including lack of title deeds, incomplete road projects and construction of Kahurura dam.

"We have had a fruitful discussion with the president on some of the projects that had stalled in our county and now we have hope they will be completed by this administration," Mr Kiunjuri said.

The leaders in attendance were Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu, Senator John Kinyua and MPs Kiunjuri, Sarah Korere (Laikipia North), and Wachira Karani (Laikipia West).

"We are asking the president to look into the tarmacking of Mwireri- mailisita Akurino umande Ngenia Road, and connecting Mwireri- Maili Sita road with Jua Kali- Muramarati- Mwireri road," said the Laikipia East MP.

Kiunjuri said they also discussed other mega projects - Likii -Mukuri - Kwamwaura road, Mirera -matanya -Ngoro theru road. As well as Nanyuki -Rumuruti road, Nanyuki-Doldol road and Kiamaina road.

The leaders called for tough action against individuals who erect illegal water intakes interfering with the flow of rivers from Mt Kenya.

"We have had a discussion about the water intakes that have been affecting our residents downstream and the President has agreed to address these issues," he said.

President Ruto announced that DP Gachagua will in March, preside over the issuance of title deeds to residents in Kwa Maina and Likii slums in Laikipia West and Laikipia East after completion of the titling process.

"I have spoken to the DP and the relevant ministry and when we issue title deeds in March, Likki residents will be among the beneficiaries and the event will be presided over by my DP," he said.

Laikipia North MP Korere appealed for the president's intervention over insecurity in the constituency.

Ruto assured of the government's intervention to end perennial land conflict and clashes between ranchers and residents over pasture.

"We'll work with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to ensure that game parks in Laikipia county are fenced off to ward off wild animals from your farms," he said.

Ruto ordered the Interior Ministry to deploy 360 more police reservists to Laikipia and ranchers to fence off their land.
