Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga tells CECs to uphold ethics

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has urged County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) to uphold high ethical standards.

The ten CECMs were sworn in at a ceremony presided over by Homa Bay Chief Magistrate Julius Nang'eya after they were approved by the county assembly a fortnight ago.

The new CECMs are Roselyn Omollo (Public Health and Medical Services), Martin Opere (Education, Human Capital Development and Vocational Training), Danish Onyango (Roads, Public Works, Transport and Infrastructure).

Others are CECMs Solomon Okello Obiero (Finance and Economic Planning), Dr Joash Aloo (Water, Sanitation, Irrigation, Environment, Energy and Climate Change), Polycup Okombo (Trade, Industry, Tourism, Co-operative Development and Marketing) and Dr Peter Onyango Ogolla (Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development).

Grace Mercy Atieno Osewe is CECM for Governance, Administration, Communication and Devolution docket, Dr John Agili (Blue Economy, Fisheries, Mining and Digital Economy) and Sarah Atieno Malit (Gender Equality and Inclusivity, Youth, Sports, Talent Development, Cultural Heritage and Social Services).

Wanga also appointed her Deputy Oyugi Magwanga as the CECM for Agriculture and Livestock.

The governor who attended the swearing of the CECMs promised to end the culture of bribery in county jobs.

"Let me make it clear to residents that my office has no intention of demanding money from anybody in order to secure a job in this county. Let the CECMs demonstrate the highest ethical standards required of them through Chapter Six of the Constitution to help us do away with bribery," she said.

Wanga who was accompanied by her deputy Magwanga, County Commissioner Moses Lilan, Speaker of the County Assembly Julius Gaya and Majority Leader Richard Ogindo, told the CECMs to be dedicated in service delivery to ensure Homa Bay is ranked number one in the country.

"I want the officials to work hard in service delivery. I want Homa Bay to be the top county in service delivery but this can only be achieved if you work hard in your respective departments," she said.

Mr Magwanga told the CECMs to prioritiSe needs of mwananchi in service delivery.

"Homa Bay residents need services from your departments. Ensure you meet your targets," he said.
