Suspected bandits killed eight police officers, a chief and two civilians in Turkana East on Saturday evening, September 24.
The National Police Service has said in a statement that the suspects were being trailed after stealing livestock from a village in Turkana East.
"We have dispatched additional officers to reinforce the troops on the ground in beefing up security in the area and pursue the bandits," the National Police Service said in a press statement on Saturday night.
"We reassure the public that all necessary measures shall be taken to restore security and safety in the region. The National Police Service further condoles with the bereaved families of the departed officers and members of the public."
