Kisii governor Simba Arati says the voting process for the Kakamega governor position on Monday, August 29, was conducted well.
Speaking at Kakamega Central Police Station today, the governor, who was accompanied by Vihiga county senator elect Godfrey Osotsi, Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi and Caleb Amis (Saboti), said the process went on without hitches in many parts of the county.
"We are currently preparing ourselves to keep vigil and protect our votes," said Mr Arati.
"I'm an observer for the ODM party and we came to see and have a briefing with security officers to ensure the exercise goes on smoothly and we have reported incidents where some of the voters were injured," said Arati.
"We are confident ODM will win and we want our supporters to remain calm and cast the votes before polling stations are closed," he said.
Osotsi and Amisi said they were optimistic their candidate will carry the day.
"We have crisscrossed all the 12 constituencies and I can report the exercise went on peacefully," said Amisi.
