Over 40 Kenyan Cadets will be trained on board CMA CGM vessels as part of this 5-year program
In 2021, the CMA CGM Group and the Bandari Maritime Academy of Mombasa signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch a wide-scale training program to develop the skills, competencies, and knowledge needed to grow the Blue Economy in Kenya. This partnership also aims to empower Kenyan Youth through training and career opportunities in the maritime sector and is targeting both women and men equally to promote gender diversity in the industry.
Both parties will offer their knowledge and expertise as part of this mutually beneficial agreement. Over 40 Kenyan cadets will join CMA CGM crews to receive training on board the Group's vessels as part of this 5-year program. Furthermore, the CMA CGM Academy, which supports employees on a daily basis by offering a broad range of solutions tailored to their needs, will share its expert instructors, facilities and digital resources with the Bandari Maritime Academy students.
CMA CGM staff members in Kenya will also benefit from training at the Bandari Maritime Academy, and both The first three Kenyan Cadets boarded CMA CGM SAINT EXUPERY at the port of Le Havre, France, in June. Parties will collaborate on research projects and participate in relevant events such as seminars or conferences.
