A nine-storey building under construction in OJ area, Ruiru collapsed this morning sending residents into panic.
While confirming the incident Ruiru DCIO Justus Ombati said the building collapsed at 3:00 am. There were no casualties.
Preliminary investigations indicate the building may have come down due to its weight.
The incident comes barely a month after two other buildings collapsed in Gachie and Kinoo.
Kiambu Governor James Nyoro formed a task force that included the National Construction Authority, Surveyors of Kenya and Board of Engineers in Kenya who were to go on a fact-finding mission on positions of buildings in Kiambu County that are under construction.
A resident James Maina said that the area is swampy and could have contributed to its collapse.
The owner of the building only known as Kariuki Brownie is still at large.
