Musalia Mudavadi: I will end political 'use and dump'

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has said he is relying on Mt Kenya youth to fund his presidential campaign, and warned them to be wary of empty promises from other contenders.

Mudavadi said he was investing in the mountain's youth after realising they have been "used and dumped" by other leaders in their quest for leadership positions.

He said his partnership with Mt Kenya region made him get a young person to occupy the slot of party secretary-general.

Speaking at Kiawambeu Primary School grounds in Kiharu, Murang’a County, Mudavadi said he appointed lawyer Simon Gikuru, 34, to the key position.

“As the fifth president of the country, I will work with the youth, focusing on the transformation of the country economically,” he said.

The ANC leader said he was pleased with Murang’a being the home county to high-profile leaders, including former Cabinet ministers Kenneth Matiba, John Michuki, Joseph Kamotho and Charles Rubia.

Gikuru is a former Jubilee Party chairman in Murang’a.

Mudavadi was accompanied by the party's deputy leader Ayub Savula and Butere MP Tindi Mwale.
