ODM told to ditch Uhuru if unhappy with deal

Wiper and ANC have hit out at their coalition partner ODM over its members’ reported discomfort with party leader Raila Odinga’s handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The two parties, which are ODM’s partners in the National Super Alliance (NASA), dared the Orange party to walk out of the arrangement with President Kenyatta if they were aggrieved.

ANC National Chairman Kelvin Lunani said they should not “bother consummating a relationship based on threats, intimation and ransom politics”.

Further, Lunani said ODM’s complaints against the involvement of Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho in the BBI campaigns were insincere.

“ANC has no interest in driving a wedge between anyone. As a matter of fact, it is ODM’s pursuit of personalising BBI that is the lever for the attempted exclusion of many stakeholders from the process,” he said.

Concede defeat

Musalia Mudavadi’s party also took a swipe at ODM over the Matungu by-election last week, saying the Orange party had lost the contest fairly and should concede defeat.

“ANC was the victim of planned and co-ordinated massive voter fraud,” Lunani said.

“We witnessed people carrying stacks of pre-marked ballot papers and even marked poll result forms.”

The statement came after Wiper Party politicians also hit out at ODM over its supposed jitters with the arrangement.

“If I invite you to my house, you should not come and start dictating to me how I should cook my food, how I should do my things. If ODM is not satisfied with the terms of the handshake, let them quit,” said Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua while speaking to a congregation at ATG Church in Mlolongo.
