Police in Eldoret have launched a manhunt for three suspects who allegedly kidnapped a Kiambu politician eying for Kiambaa parliamentary seat and drove him to Uasin Gishu County.
The politician found himself at Sengalo forest in Kesess Sub County on Thursday morning after he was kidnapped from Nairobi by unknown people who claimed to be police officers.
According to Turbo Sub County Commander Edward Masibo, the complainant John Njuguna, claimed his abductors were armed with a pistol when they attacked him.
They forced him into a private car on Wednesday afternoon and later abandoned him in the forest after being interrogated for hours.
“Mr Njuguna reported that three armed men drove him all the way from Nairobi towards Nakuru while threatening to kill him if he will not abandon his political interest in Kiambaa parliamentary seat but we are investigating the matter,” said Masibo
Njuguna had claimed that the gunmen ransacked him and robbed him of Sh180,000 cash money, a laptop and his wallet containing his national identification card, 6 ATM cards and other important documents.
The politician said his abductors had blindfolded his eyes using a piece of cloth all the way to Sengalo forest, beat him and they eventually tied him lightly on a tree in the forest and left him at around 3 am.
He later untied himself from the tree and crawled to the main road where he found mechanics repairing a lorry.
The mechanics helped him to get a lift to Eldoret town where he reported the incident at Eldoret police station.
“It's true he reported the incident here at the station while accompanied by Uasin Gishu county assembly chief whip Gilbert Tenai but we are colluding with our counterparts from Kiambu County, once we are through we will let you know,” the OCPD added.
