A form three student at Rwambiti Secondary School who beat up his teachers appeared at Gichugu Law Courts on Tuesday facing two charges; creating disturbance and malicious damage to property.
Appearing before Gichugu Senior Principal Magistrate Ken Odhiambo, James Waweru Njeru was released on a Sh8,000 cash bail or Sh20,000 bond.
He was unable to raise the amount and was transferred to Kerugoya Prison.
According to the school’s Deputy Principal David Rugendo, the accused resisted being frisked by a teacher on duty and resorted to kicks and blows.
The three teachers who came to the rescue of their colleague had a hard time restraining the student who had already broken a window in one of the classrooms.
Kirinyaga East police boss Anthony Mbogo who spoke to Standard Digital said that Njeru was nabbed with a phone but he quickly hid it and refused to be frisked.
Eventually, he was subdued and taken to the deputy principal’s office. Later he was picked up by police officers and upon interrogation; the student confessed that he was under the influence of bhang.
