Chief Justice David Maraga on Friday unveiled a new court building in Nakuru county.
Whie accompanied by Governor Lee Kinyanjui, the CJ officially opened the Sh347 million Law Courts Building.
At the same time, Maraga hinted that a handover ceremony has been organised for January 10, 2021 to see him leave office.
Maraga revealed that he plans to settle in Nakuru County after his retirement next year.
The CJ said he will proceed on leave next week Friday, December 11, pending his retirement.
“I plan to retire here in Nakuru, where I practised law for 25 years before I was judge. Nakuru has a special place in my heart and that why I decided to have this function today as the last major public engagement of my career as the CJ," he said.
The CJ, who looked happy and contended with the project he initiated in the Judiciary, said he has managed to set up 43 High Court stations in 42 counties and he intends to open three magistrate courts before he retires.
