FORD-Kenya Party Leader Moses Wetangula has kicked out Kisii County branch party officials allied to Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi.
Wetang’ula, who is the Bungoma senator chaired a meeting at Kisii Hotel on Sunday, where he met party officials from Kisii and Nyamira counties. He said the party has resolved to replace the county leadership that he accused of working with rebels.
The meeting which was also attended by Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka and West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, endorsed Dr Timothy Arege to be the acting chairman in Kisii County, replacing Job Okemwa.
“FORD-KENYA Party will be holding a National Delegates Conference in Nairobi early next year so that we can set modalities for holding party elections in readiness for the 2022 general elections,” said Wetangula.
The lion party boss said that the outfit fully supports the BBI on grounds that the document will lead to the amendment of the 2010 Constitution to address the shortcomings that have been noted over the years.
Wetangula said that party will be holding meetings across the country to seek the support of more Kenyans supporting the document when a referendum is held sometime early next year.
Onyonka— who is the deputy party leader— said that the Kisii and Nyamira regional leadership and recognised Wetangula as the bonafide party leader, and would be supporting him when party elections are held.
The Kitutu Chache South MP said that the Gusii community fully supported BBI and that elected leaders are currently mobilising residents to append their signatures in support of the document.
“We are very certain that we are going to get over 500,000 signatures from Kisii and Nyamira Counties in support of the BBI, this document has the goodwill of 95 per cent of Kenyans,” said Onyonka.
The leaders said that FORD-KENYA was at the forefront of championing for the opening up of the democratic space in the country and that it was out to ensure that there were positive changes in the country.
