Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has dared Deputy President William Ruto to go to in Msambweni and campaign for his preferred candidate if he is man enough.
Speaking in Msambweni on Friday when accompanied ODM candidate Omar Boga to present his nomination papers at the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission offices, Joho, told Ruto to stop sending his allies to test waters while tweeting in Nairobi.
"If you're man enough, don't play Msambweni politics at Karen and on Twitter while posting pictures! Come here and let's meet man to man," he dared the DP.
Governor Joho (pictured) declared Coast region an ODM zone, saying they will campaign vigorously for Boga and recapture the seat.
"I won't allow anyone to even imagine that they can come and play with us in our region, be it William Ruto or his people. He is a coward! He's so afraid to visit the constituency and all he can do is send his people,” he said.
Boga will square it out with Independent Candidate Abdallah Bader who was cleared yesterday and has the backing of Ruto and his Tanga Tanga brigade.
The governor, Suna Eat MP Junet Mohamed and his Likoni counterpart Mishi Mboko are leading a rally to drum up support for Boga at Sawa Sawa Grounds.
Despite the ruling party Jubilee not fronting a candidate, Ruto and his allies have openly backed Bader and pledged to give ODM a run for their money in the December 15 by-election.
The seat fell vacant in March after the Suleiman Dori died while undergoing treatment in Aga khan hospital, Mombasa County.
