Boost for HIV patients in Covid fight

Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (Kemsa) has received hygiene packs worth Sh20 million from UNAids to support people living with HIV.

The donation is part of the organisation's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The hygiene kits consisting of bleach and soaps, will be distributed in collaboration with networks of people living with HIV, specifically National Empowerment of Network of People Living with HIV (Nephak) and Women Fighting Aids in Kenya (Wofak). 

Kemsa Chief Executive Officer Jonah Manjari said the agency was committed to collaborate with organisations like UNAids to ensure that quality and affordable health products are available for this vulnerable group. 

“Kemsa will continue to partner with like-minded organisations to ensure that people with HIV and Aids have adequate supplies,” he said. 

UNAids Country Director Kenya Medhin Tsehaiu commended the government for taking the disease seriously and putting in place measures to prevent its spread.
