Granny in court for beating grandchild

A granny has been charged for beating her grandson for trespassing on her compound while herding cattle.

Angeline Adongo, 67, is alleged to have hit her grandson with a wooden rod. Court documents stated that the grandson sustained injuries in his upper limbs and left ear.

The prosecution charged that Adongo, while fetching firewood, spotted the 13-year-old boy herding cattle in her compound and assaulted him.

Police said the incident happened on May 9 within Kolwa location in Nyando sub-county.

Adongo denied the charges and was released on Sh2,000 cash bail.

The old woman is said to have been arrested when her grandson who was rushed to hospital after the ordeal reported the beating to his mother.

Adongo’s case will be heard on August 5.
