Kenyans troop to Parliament Buildings for second day to view Mzee Moi's body

Former President Mwai Kibaki has made his way to Parliament Buildings in Nairobi to pay his last respects to the late Mzee Moi.

Kibaki arrived at around 11.30 accompanied in a heavily guarded motorcade.

The former president took over rule from retired president Daniel arap Moi in 2002.

Meanwhile, Kenyans continue to line up in Nairobi's streets to view the body of the country's late former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, which is lying-in-state at Parliament Buildings.

The remains of Mzee Moi was brought at Parliament Buildings from Lee Funeral Home for the second day as early as 6am for public viewing.

Kenyans started trooping to Parliament Buildings as early as 4 am to pay their respects to Mzee Moi's body.

Long queues were witnessed on Parliament Road, City Hall Road and other adjacent roads on Sunday morning as Kenyans headed to Parliament.

As the national mourning period declared by President Uhuru Kenyatta continues until Moi’s burial on Wednesday.

A requiem mass will be held for the former head of state on Tuesday at Nyayo Stadium before being buried on Wednesday at his Kabarak home.

Several leaders, including ODM leader Raila Odinga, are expected at Parliament Buildings to view the remains of the former president.

Raila travelled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Saturday for the ongoing African Union Summit to represent President Uhuru.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, in the early hours of Saturday, before heading to Parliament, eulogized the former president in a live televised broadcast from State House Nairobi, his official residence.

President Uhuru and first lady Margaret Kenyatta were the first to view the body, before other Kenyans, got their chance.

Mzee Moi died on Tuesday while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
