Police are investigating the beheading of an 84-year-old man by unknown attackers at his home on Saturday night.
Tsokoe Mwamandano, a father of 18, was attacked at his home in Burani village at around 9pm by about 10 assailants said to be armed with machetes, slashing him to death.
Police and family members said the attackers did not steal anything. Police are yet to arrest the suspects but they have linked the killing to witchcraft where the elderly are targeted.
The deceased's younger brother Mwijaka Kusema said his brother's body had been badly mutilated. "We collected his dismembered body. He had been slashed several times."
