A 10-day search for a mother of three ended on Thursday evening after her mutilated body was found buried in a shallow grave in Karagita estate, Naivasha.
The body of the flower farm worker was discovered a few meters off the Moi South Lake Road.
The woman identified as Nancy Wangui was missing a leg and an eye.
She went missing on New Year after leaving her house at 4.30am to report to work.
Emotions ran high as police and the public moved in to exhume the body before taking it to the mortuary.
Wangui's brother Anthony Mburu said she left for work at dawn as usual.
He got concerned after she failed to return in the evening.
On enquiring, Mburu was further told Wangui did not report for duty.
“We sensed something was wrong and reported the matter to the police as we mounted a fruitless search for her,” he said.
Amid tears, Mburu told of his shock after they were informed about the body buried in the shallow grave.
His younger brother Stephen Mburu told of the family's pain after Wangui's body was discovered with missing parts.
Stephen said they had searched various police stations and hospitals to no avail.
“It’s painful that my sister had to die like this. We hope those responsible will be arrested.”
Community elder Mohammed Were criticised the odd hours flower farm workers report for duty, saying they are exposed to attacks.

“This road is in pathetic condition, making it hard for the workers to get any means of safe transport."
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident, saying the police are treating it as murder though no suspect has been arrested.
“A report was made over a missing woman a week ago and the body has been found ... our officers are following it up."
