Police in Naivasha are investigating a bizarre incident after a minor with disabilities accidentally died after being strangled by a piece of cloth on his wheelchair.

The 16-year-old boy died in Kinamba estate along the Naivasha-Kirima road while his parents were working in a nearby farm.

The incident came a day after a twelve-year-old boy from the neighboring village of Maraigushu committed suicide after falling out with the parents.

The body of the class six student was found dangling from a tree in the family’s compound hours after refusing to go to school.

In the latest incident, it’s suspected that a piece of cloth that was covering the disabled minor could have caused his death.

An elder in the village, Amos Mbuthia said that the boy was found dead by his parents who in turn reported to the police station.

“The boy who has been on wheelchair all his life could have fallen and in the process the cloth strangled him,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said that only a post mortem would determine the cause of death adding that an inquest file had been opened.

“At the moment we are not taking anything to chance and we are waiting for a post mortem report before taking the next course of action,” he said.
