A man from Mbondoni village in Isinga location, Kangundo Sub County was on Thursday charged with defiling and strangling a dog to death.

Boniface Mutuku denied the charges and was granted Sh100,000 cash bail.

The man was arrested for allegedly engaging in bestiality with a dog.

He was picked up by police from his house by police officers from after the public raised alarm.

According to area chief, Bethwel King’ele, the man who was living alone in an abandoned homestead is said to have “held the domestic pet captive” in his house for several days where he allegedly engaged in unnatural act.

“In his own confession, the man said he ‘defiled’ the dog for several days and later strangled the animal to death using a rope,” King’ele told Standard Digital on the telephone.

He said dozens of used condoms were also recovered from the scene.

“That is a very shameful and ungodly act which we cannot tolerate in the society. Those claiming the man is of unsound mind should also tell us why he decided to use condoms on the dog,” the chief said.

The suspect was bundled in a police land cruiser and driven to Kangundo police station where he is expected to be processed for criminal charges.

Last year, another man in the same village was arrested after being caught red-handed engaging in bestiality with a goat.

“We highly suspect many of these acts are fuelled by use of hard drugs which we have been fighting tirelessly to stop. We urge the community to help Government agencies where possible to weed-out this menace,” Chief King’ele said.
