Police in Mwingi, Kitui County, have rescued 10 teenage girls from rental houses where they had allegedly been defiled by a local pastor.

A manhunt has been launched for the pastor following claims that he defiled more than 20 girls, resulting in some getting pregnant.

The matter was exposed on Thursday evening when parents of one teenage girl, who scored 304 marks in KCPE, stormed the pastor’s sanctuary demanding to know her whereabouts.

The commotion attracted villagers even as it emerged that more girls had been lured to the church for prayers over alleged demonic attacks. The villagers alleged that once the girls step into the pastor’s sanctuary, he indoctrinates them and they refuse to go back home.

The pastor managed to evade the crowd that was baying for his blood, leaving behind his wife who was apprehended and handed over to the police.

A resident claimed his niece was among the girls who had been impregnated by the rogue preacher and the matter was reported to Mwingi Police Station.

Mwingi Central OCPD Peter Mutuma said 10 had been rescued and were being interrogated over the matter. He said the girls will later be reunited with their families.

“We are hunting him down so that he can face the law. I also want to appeal to the parents to be vigilant and watch out the kind of people their children interact with, especially during this long holiday,” the OCPD said.
