Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has urged the Government to support Harambee Starlets and Harambee Stars ahead of international duties.
According to Mwendwa, the teams have not received any financial support from the Ministry of Sports.
“FKF has diligently communicated to the Sports Ministry and the Sports Fund to come in and fund the national teams. We have, however, not received any response from the Ministry, which is frustrating.
“We are calling out on the Ministry to come out with reasons why we cannot get funding from the Sports Fund despite having made numerous requests for the same,” said Mwendwa on Tuesday.
Harambee Stars are set to travel Cairo, Egypt for their first leg of their AFCON Qualifier on November 11, 2019.
The team is scheduled to play Egypt in Cairo on November 15, 2019, and Togo four days later, on November 19, 2019, at the Kasarani Stadium.
